1.
Seedling 04:41
without a heart you leave me to my own devices to push through or falter all wrapped up inside your own seedling soul who would do such a thing the ire implanted we try so hard never to swallow the melting midnight sky we’ve come so far to watch it quiver and crumble in heedless open hands but your doubts precede any actions of dignity one day you’ll sew the seeds of reconciliation somehow you’ll be surprised to find no one is listening
2.
Forward 05:08
trap door i’m standing on your guns keep me face down a freight train that’s knocking on your stained glass window pane cracks in the shade our souls weaving over a bridge miles and miles away take me with you but i know you never will you’ll burn it down make sure to erase it all is it too much to ask when everything seems to lead your way an insignificant strain of thought has carried my life away under a red moon your devil purges disgust wallows in unremorseful eyes blank television stare you’ve never looked at me so strange well i’ll never look at you again four words you say that leave the unfettered tongue i’ll never believe you my dear but tell me who ever does
3.
paper thin crescent moon love to damage thick skin kind wind send this letter leave it on the doorstep of the lover i never knew anchored down inside the ground now lick the greying frostbitten wounds test my fractured soul split in two separate halves one to mourn the death and one to chase away the ghost
4.
Apparitions 05:33
awaken from your dream fly through me breathe on my neck whisper in my ear appear upon the top of the hill fall, fall only to pour wrath upon us like the blaze of the sun the boneless swain the blood, the blade you stuck me over and over memories sink into a living sea memories sink into a breathing sea memories sink into a bleeding sea your memory sinks into a dying sea awaken from your dream fly through me
5.
Awakening 02:44
awaken from your dream
6.
Leaving 06:10
i’m leaving learning to keep to myself impose your blessings curtailed lies in shells there’s dejection in every word you utter as i leave my troubled dirt tracks uncovered i’m gonna chase those bright lights all through the countryside one day i’ll know what it will take to make it right i’m leaving take with me all i can hold of worth and love remembered through prisms of gold haunting accounts of all undesired i’ll take all i can carry through the fire and leave the rest to blow away
7.
Departures 04:31
today is the day i set my memories aflame unconscious weaving in a web full of disdain if you got something to say it should have been done long ago ‘cause i’m through counting on what i know to be true you asked me to wait but i think you knew you can count me out, starve my doubt til you come back again i can hardly bear to lift my hands and place them where you used to be you served your purpose and so did i so you leave you suck until the soil’s dry then you leave you stayed until you stole my pride then you leave but i fear i’ll never truly be free the earth below’s bone dry but the path ahead is mine just one more thing before i let you be don’t you ever lie to me
8.
Pelts 05:59
obsidian knives tear at my hide you swallow my heart whole and take out all my insides brace yourself forget how to feel dead weight upon the shoulder dead weight on the wheel these are stranded times this heart’s laid on in some lonely bitter song when the deed is done please tell me where do you plan to go now oblivion hides in the falsehood of memory taken when you set every snare upon this path in vain who’ll come running and find the tools to break in how much longer can silence linger when it no longer screams please let me free take a look at yourself deep inside open in the gardens of deceit spread the hide upon the earth so all alone we must weep my time has come to heave the mud out from my lungs sew up my skin; abandon without all these reasons of shameless doubt
9.
Dead Ends 06:38
the words you say color the leaves and make them all fall down with every breath you blow the breeze that sends a frost upon the ground you’re already gone so i must leave this place nights blanketed by pinholes in the sky dreams of where you want to be waiting forever sinking in fear a fading melody the nightbirds will sing tales of love and loss of a winter to come forsaking everything of silence searching in all directions for the dead ends to which they lead carve me from your skin purge me from your veins and from this death will bloom one day the beauty of everything but you should know i've already left this place

about

The ambitious debut album from Moths in the Attic features an array of sounds, instrumentation and talent. Songs that began as personal, solitary elegies by songwriter Zack Fletcher, blossomed into triumphant alt-folk hymns with the help of the percussion, sax, and string players that make up the Moths in the Attic collective. The album has yielded two singles with music videos ("Forward" and "Chase Away the Ghost") and has received acclaim from national and international indie press outlets. Here is what they are saying:

"Moths in the Attic's cohesive, layered songwriting and engaging instrumentation demand repeated listening." - Divide and Conquer

"...one of the most pristinely executed offerings to come out of the regional rock/folk music scenes to date." - Garret Tanner (Astral Noize UK contributor)

"Moths in the Attic is a delightful twist on folk-inspired acoustic music" - MusiPlug

"...their ingenuity registers as unlimitable." - A&R Factory

"Every song gives way to a new experience." - Two Story Melody

about

Moths in the Attic Ohio

moths in the attic
fly forever by night. no light to guide them nor wind to hinder their flight. free until starvation, a death-hardened mold. lest the roof open wide.
reveal folds of the universe, bones of the sky.
